UK Official Stops Disputed Parade in Portadown

Sir Chris Bryant, the UK's Northern Ireland minister, banned the Drumcree Orange Order march past Garvaghy Road in Portadown on 9 October 2026. He said marchers and nationalist residents made no deal and marching was not in the public interest. Using a law called Section 11, he cancelled parade referees' permission after police asked for a review.
