Unions Say Banks Should Pay More Tax

The Trades Union Congress wants finance chief John Healey to make banks pay more tax in the 28 October budget. It says a 2023 cut to a special bank-profits tax, from 8% to 3%, lost £6bn over three years. Undoing it could raise £9bn over four years. Healey must balance cash needs with fears of driving business away.
