TUC urges Healey to raise bank taxes, cites £6bn revenue loss
The Trades Union Congress has urged Chancellor John Healey to raise bank taxes in the 28 October Budget. It calculates the 2023 cut in the bank surcharge from 8% to 3% cost £6bn over three years. Reversing it would raise £9bn over four years, the TUC says. Healey must balance revenue needs against warnings over competitiveness.
