Victorian Greens start election push with cheaper groceries promise
The Victorian Greens started their 2026 state election campaign on Thursday, 8 October, at a packed Fitzroy North church in inner-north Melbourne. Leader Ellen Sandell promised state-run grocery shops to cut food bills. They also promise lower home-buying tax, twice as many government-owned homes and frozen rents. Big crowd. Volunteers must now win votes.
