Waymo and Uber End Autonomous Taxi Partnership

Self-driving car company Waymo and ride-hailing app Uber have ended their partnership as of June 2026, after three years of jointly running autonomous taxis in Phoenix. The split cancels planned expansion to Austin and Atlanta. Waymo provided the driverless vehicles; Uber handled customer bookings and payments. Waymo now runs its own autonomous taxi service in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
