Waymo and Uber End Partnership, Shelving Multi-City Autonomous Ride-Hailing Expansion
Waymo and Uber have terminated their commercial partnership in Phoenix as of June 2026, ending a three-year collaboration that began in May 2023. The dissolution halts planned expansions to Austin and Atlanta announced in September 2024. The partnership had tested a third-party AV deployment model—where Waymo supplied vehicles and autonomy, Uber handled customer interface and demand aggregation. Waymo now focuses on its vertically integrated Waymo One service operating in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
