Senegalese writer Cheikh Hamidou Kane dies at 98

Cheikh Hamidou Kane, a writer from Senegal, died in Dakar at age 98. The newspaper Le Monde shared the news on 4 October 2026. Born in Matam in 1928, he wrote the book L'Aventure ambiguë. Many see him as a leading voice among African writers who write in French.
