
Quebec Election: Independence Party Expected to Win
The Canadian Press projects the separatist Parti Québécois — the party that wants Quebec to leave Canada — won Quebec's Oct. 5, 2026 provincial election. Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon was set to become premier, the province's leader. Élections Québec, which runs the vote, said early results would arrive slowly after 8 p.m. Quebec's legislature has 127 seats; 64 wins control.
