Glasgow Council Agrees Not to Fire 23,000 Workers

Glasgow City Council and workers’ group Unison made a deal on 5 October 2026, so all 23,000 non-teaching staff will not be fired then rehired. The fight was about a new pay system to fix old complaints of unfair pay. The council had warned all staff might lose jobs and return on worse pay and conditions.
