Conservatives Promise to Make Building New Homes Cheaper

The Conservatives promised on October 5, 2026, at their party meeting to cut the cost of building a new home by up to £50,000 if they win the next general election, the vote for government. They say fewer building rules and lower taxes would do it. Buyers may not pay less, depending on land prices, builder competition and home-loan costs.
