Australia's Unusually Hot September
Australia had its second-hottest September in 2026, 2.71C warmer than the 1961-1990 normal — the yardstick scientists use — the Bureau of Meteorology says. September nights were the warmest since records began in 1910. Every state had a top-five hottest September. Australia has had no cooler-than-normal September since 2004.
