Tennessee execution attempt fails; prisoner now in hospital
Tennessee tried to execute Christa Pike on Sept. 30, but she survived two doses of pentobarbital, the drug meant to cause death. She was taken from prison to a hospital, where she remains unconscious on a ventilator, a machine that breathes for her. Gov. Bill Lee has stopped executions for the rest of the year while experts review what happened.
