Tech stocks hit new high as slow hiring calms rate worries

Tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 1.18% to 27,191 on October 2, its highest ever, Motley Fool reported. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the government's jobs counters, showed 29,000 new jobs in September, unemployment flat at 4.2%. Slower hiring made investors less worried the Fed — America's central bank — will raise rates, which would keep loans from getting pricier.
