
National wants to review power line charges to cut power bills
National would look again at the Commerce Act, the law that caps what power-line owners can charge. Energy spokesperson Simeon Brown said those line charges are about two-thirds of the rise in average power bills. Its Electrify NZ 2.0 plan says the Commerce Commission, the price watchdog, last set that cap in November 2024, until 2030.
