France's borrowing costs hit worst run since 1987
France's 10-year government IOU had its worst three months since 1987, then its rate rose another 0.10 point on Oct. 1, 2026, the Miami Herald reported. Higher rates mean France pays more to borrow, which can push up loans. I see pressure on long-term borrowing across Europe, not just Paris.
