Eritrea and Ethiopia Stop Official Contact

Eritrea ended all official contact with Ethiopia on October 1, 2026. Its capital, Asmara, said it was payback after Ethiopia ordered Eritrean diplomats — government representatives — out of Addis Ababa. Like neighbors removing each other's phone numbers, there is now no direct way to help citizens or talk in an emergency.
