Why AI Keeps Saying 'This Matters'

Claude Opus 5.5 writes 'this matters' 116 times more often than people do, Graphite found. It checked AI writing against 10,000 articles written before ChatGPT, to show normal human writing. Graphite calls a phrase an AI giveaway when AI uses it at least twice as often as people.
