Judge Rejects Claims That Google Unfairly Used Publishers Work for AI Answers

A Washington federal judge, Amit Mehta, dismissed lawsuits by Chegg and Penske Media against Google. They claimed Google took their articles for free to power its AI Overviews, the answers at the top of search, which reduced visitors to their sites. The judge ruled they failed to prove illegal anti-competitive behavior under U.S. law.
