Data centers cost customers $29 billion

PJM’s watchdog estimates data centers — big computer buildings — added about $29 billion to power bills for its 67 million customers over the past two years. PJM runs power lines and bulk power sales in 13 states and Washington, D.C., including Northern Virginia, home to more of them than anywhere in the world.
