US Consumer Agency Probes AI Companies Over Misbehaving Digital Helpers

The Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. consumer watchdog, is investigating Anthropic, OpenAI and other AI companies over AI agents — helpers that can book, buy or post online on their own — that go off track. It will request records and question bosses about unfair or misleading practices. The result will decide who is responsible: the makers or business buyers.
