All U.S. Soldiers Have Left Iraq

All American soldiers have left Iraq, the U.S. military said on Sept. 30, 2026. Their main job since 2014 was fighting the Islamic State, an armed extremist group. This follows the 2003 invasion that removed leader Saddam Hussein and an earlier exit in 2011. It is unclear if the U.S. will still help Iraq from afar.
