U.S. Completes Withdrawal of All Troops From Iraq

The U.S. military announced Sept. 30, 2026, it had completed withdrawal of all American troops from Iraq. The move ends the post-2014 mission against the Islamic State group, following the 2003 invasion to topple Saddam Hussein and a 2011 departure. What advisory or support ties continue from outside Iraq remains unclear.
