Greggs May Close Four Factories, Putting 740 Jobs at Risk

Greggs said on 30 September 2026 it may close factories in Enfield, Penrith, Kelso and Seaham, putting up to 740 jobs at risk over two and a half years. Enfield would still handle deliveries. The Newcastle bakery company, with over 33,000 workers, says making food in fewer places will cost less as it opens more shops.
