Tennessee Governor Says No to Mercy; Execution Set for Sept. 30

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said no on Sept. 28 to sparing Christa Pike's life. Pike, 50, is set to be put to death Sept. 30 for killing 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in 1995. Found guilty in 1996, she became the youngest woman held on death row — prison for people awaiting execution — in modern U.S. history.
