London to Start Running Its Own Buses in 2027

London’s transport agency will start its own bus company, Buses for London, in late 2027. It will run only a few of nearly 700 routes, alongside eight private companies. The agency says direct ownership brings more control and puts earnings back into service. The question is whether that delivers more dependable buses and better value.
