Government shut Māori health body with no backup plan

The Waitangi Tribunal, which monitors Treaty promises, says the Government shut Te Aka Whai Ora, the Māori health body, on 30 June 2024 with no clear replacement. It says Government promises did not lead to action, leaving a gap of nearly 18 months. The finding is in Part 2 of its priority report, released 25 September 2026.
