Trump's choice for medicines chief says measles shot is safe

Donald Trump’s choice to lead the FDA, the agency that clears medicines for use, Heidi Overton, told the Senate health committee Sept. 24 that the MMR measles shot is safe and works well. She called it the best defense as U.S. measles cases hit their highest since 1991. Her support could make Senate approval harder.
