Decision on joining councils delayed until after election

The Government will not decide on joining councils until after the election. Ministers Chris Bishop and Simon Watts said Cabinet, the group of senior ministers, will look at the 18 Head Start ideas for joining councils in early 2027. Those it supports will be planned in full for a final decision later that year, before voters elect councils in 2028.
