Police Remove 87-Year-Old From Her Home of 71 Years

Madrid police in riot gear used eye-burning tear gas and repeated stick charges to push back hundreds of overnight protesters in El Retiro on Sept. 23. That let court staff force out Maricarmen, 87, officially half-disabled. It worked on the fourth try. Renter groups and actors Carlos Bardem and Ana Belén joined the human wall. She lived there 71 years.
