Madrid police fire teargas to evict disabled 87-year-old

Madrid riot police fired teargas and repeatedly baton-charged hundreds of overnight protesters in El Retiro on Sept. 23 to let a judicial committee evict Maricarmen, 87, with 50% disability. The order was executed on the fourth attempt. Tenants' unions and actors Carlos Bardem and Ana Belén joined the blockade. She had lived there 71 years.
