UK Wants Phone Owners to Pick Their Search Engine

Google and firms that make Android phones could be forced by law in Britain to let you pick your search tool when you first set up your phone or browser, like choosing which shop to use, instead of starting with Google automatically. The UK competition regulator published the plan on 23 September 2026, with the choice offered again each year.
