CMA Proposes Legally Required Search Choice on Android and Chrome

The UK Competition and Markets Authority has proposed requiring Google and Android handset makers to offer a search-provider choice at Android setup and first-run Chrome, with a yearly repeat prompt, rather than defaulting to Google Search. The updated proposals were published 23 September 2026.
