Viking weight-loss shot worked as monthly dose, company says

Viking Therapeutics on Sept. 22 shared first results from its VK2735 obesity follow-up study. After 19 weeks of weight loss, patients tried weekly, every-two-week, or once-a-month shots. The once-a-month shot kept up to 90% of the average weight lost, the company says. Full safety and quit-rate details are still needed to judge costs and staying power.
