UK to check how courts handle abused parents in child-return cases

The UK’s Justice Ministry team for family cases across countries will review all High Court cases from 2024-2025 under a 1980 international pact requiring children taken abroad to be returned quickly. The aim is better support for domestic abuse survivors resisting a partner’s demand for return. About 500 such applications are filed yearly in England and Wales.
