British Columbia Sues OpenAI Over Warnings Before Deadly Shooting

British Columbia said Sept. 21 it will sue OpenAI in California, saying it failed to warn police about threats posted on its app before the February 2026 shooting in Tumbler Ridge that killed eight. Families are also suing separately. The case asks what AI firms must tell police, and where they can be taken to court.
