China Fires Two of Its Top Generals

China has removed generals Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli from its ruling Communist Party and army, reports published Sept. 21 said. The reports blamed disloyalty, corruption, failing to do their jobs, and other serious rule-breaking. The long, mixed list of accusations is worth watching, because it points beyond a single political or job-performance dispute.
