Pakistan Police Hold Former Leader's Sister Before Protest March

Police in Lahore held Aleema Khanum on Sept. 20, days before planned protests. She is the sister of Imran Khan, Pakistan's former top leader, in jail since 2023. Police confirmed the holding to the BBC; Khan's political party, PTI, called it "illegal detention." The party plans a protest march to the capital city, Islamabad, on Sept. 27.
