Lib Dems want closer deal with Europe to help economy and defence

Liberal Democrat deputy leader Daisy Cooper said the party would seek a Growth and Defence Partnership with the EU. She told the conference in Brighton it would cover the single market — trading as easily as neighbours — a customs union — shared border charges — and defence. She said closer ties were the 'single biggest growth lever'.
