MP Andrew Hastie told a Parliament hearing he fed a dying voter's letter about voluntary assisted dying — laws letting a terminally ill person choose to die — into Microsoft's Copilot, an AI that drafts replies. It suggested “congratulations!”, “great to hear from you” and “wonderful news!”. Hastie says Australians should run AI. The question is how Canberra builds it.
