Opportunity Party would charge farmers for animal gas

The Opportunity Party, led by Qiulae Wong, would charge farmers for methane from animals such as cows and sheep ahead of the 2026 election, RNZ reported. It would look at a fixed charge, or a system capping total gas where farmers buy and sell allowances. Its climate spokesperson is Kayla Kingdon-Bebb.
