How Warming Caused Deadly Himalayan Collapse

A World Weather Attribution study said Sept. 17 that climate change helped cause the Aug. 26 collapse of rock and glacier from Langtang Lirung, flooding parts of Nepal and Tibet. They said local July-August heat, about 5C above normal, piled problems atop each other: shrinking glaciers, thawing year-round frozen ground, and loose slopes.
