Volunteers Learn to Mow Historic Abbey Field by Hand

English Heritage has trained its first volunteers to mow fields by hand at Muchelney Abbey in Somerset. Experts from Exmoor National Park Authority taught how to use and care for scythes, long curved blades like old-fashioned mowers. Muchelney is the test site, with work planned elsewhere. Its field is one of 100 promised for King Charles's 2023 coronation.
