English Heritage trains volunteer scythers for Somerset abbey meadows

English Heritage has trained its first volunteer scythers to cut meadows by hand at Muchelney Abbey in Somerset. Professionals from Exmoor National Park Authority led training in scythe use and maintenance. Muchelney is the pilot site, with volunteers expected to work at other sites. The meadow is among 100 pledged for King Charles's 2023 coronation.
