Government changes how new homes pay for roads and pipes

According to RNZ, the Government has introduced a new levy, or charge, to replace the fees councils charge builders for new pipes, roads and other services needed for growth. Councils and developers welcomed it. Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown said the old fees are 'not fit for purpose'. Councils will change over from 2029, with the old system ending in 2030.
