Government introduces levy to replace developer contributions

According to RNZ, the Government has introduced a development levy to replace council development contributions for growth infrastructure. Councils and developers welcomed the reform. Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown said contributions are 'not fit for purpose'. Councils will transition from 2029, with the old system disestablished in 2030.
