Minister says Canada should make its own AI, not rent it

Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon told the All In AI conference in Montreal that Canada should develop its own artificial intelligence — computer systems that learn — to control its data and rules. If not, Canada will rent the technology from neighbours and follow their rules. He wants partnerships with countries that share its values, not isolation.
