Solomon warns Canada must build AI at home or rent from neighbours

Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon told the All In AI conference in Montreal that Canada must advance AI innovation at home to retain sovereign control over systems and data. Failing to do so would mean Canada has to "rent" from its neighbours and follow their rules, he said. He favoured partnerships with like-minded countries over isolation.
