Government Will Pay for Teachers' Pay Rise in England

England's teachers are getting a pay rise the government will pay for in full. Education Secretary Lucy Powell told the National Education Union, which speaks for teachers, on 16 September 2026: 3.5% more pay from September 2026 and 3% more from September 2027. The union celebrated, saying schools had feared paying almost a third themselves.
