Maker says its AI was used to run 28 fake dating apps

Anthropic says one account, paid for in advance and sending more than 100,000 daily messages to its Claude AI helper, powered about 28 fake dating apps. Researcher Chris Cronbaugh said computer-made profiles did most of the chatting, with no real person involved. The finding comes from its September 2026 misuse report, explained at Sleuthcon.
