Anthropic traced 100,000 daily API requests to 28 AI dating scams

Anthropic says a prepaid account sending more than 100,000 Claude API requests per day powered around 28 fraudulent dating apps. Researcher Chris Cronbaugh said autonomous AI personas handled most chats with no human agent, per its September 2026 misuse report detailed at Sleuthcon.
